This is a great old Watt Pottery Casserole with Lid glazed in an unusual shade of brown, it has an orange tone to it. The lid and bowl both have a very ornate looping pattern embossed on the outside. The 1 1/4" rim is banded underneath by unglazed stoneware. The knob also has an unglazed band on the top. Both the lid and the bowl are in very good condition. All exposed areas of stoneware have some darkening on them. I have not tried to clean any of the darkened areas. On the underside of the lid there are a couple of thin spots in the glaze, as well as on the inside of bowl. Also inside bowl is a darkened glaze crack (see photos). This piece measures 8 1/2" wide by 3 1/4" tall (6" tall with lid). Bottom of bowl is marked, 'OVEN WARE MADE IN U.S.A. 8'. The words form a circle with the '8' in the middle. A beautifully decorated piece.
